Did the Military at area 51 make up aliens and UFO'S in order to cover up their confedential projects?

If so when did the military at area 51 announce that's unknown flying saucer (their projects) up in the air were in fact UFO'S from outer space. And whats the point of area 51? why do we need weapons made there? what is their most secret mission? and i really don't believe in aliens.
